We’re sort of in love with chili peppers and hot sauces.
You are too. We know because you’re reading this, and there must be a reason for that.
But, we can’t help but ask ourselves what the fascination with hot sauce and chili peppers really is. After all, it seems that you can’t step into an establishment that has anything to do with food without falling over capsaicin.
You’ll find in grocery stores, fast food joints, and gourmet restaurants. You’ll also spot chili heads making their presence felt across the web (we totally support that). There are YouTube videos (with a phenomenal amount of views) of people nearly vomiting on themselves from the heat. In NYC, there’s a gourmet shop dedicated to the hottest hot sauces that people can stand, and every summer there are festivals devoted to chili pepper feeding frenzies.
To say people are fascinated with hot sauces is something of an understatement.
So what is it?
Anyone closely watching chili pepper/hot sauce media can see a few distinct trends.
• Some people are committed to promoting the health benefits of capsaicin.
• Scientists want to know more about the neurological and physiological reactions.
• There are chili heads focused on the machismo associated with the hottest peppers.
• People want to see how far they can push their limits.
• And, there are newbies that simply don’t believe the hype.
Every day, you’ll find something cropping up within these groupings. And, it’s not a bad thing. But, it doesn’t really answer the question regarding fascination, does it? We’re not sure we can answer it either. What we can do, however, is keep upping the game and producing more sauces to salivate over.
Oh, we’re doing just that. Wait until you get a drop of our latest hot sauce in your mouth. It’ll hold your fascination for years to come. Well, it will as soon as you pick yourself up off the floor. Our next release is so exorbitantly hot, you’ll fall over. (We promise; this isn’t for weaklings or even amateurs.) And you’ll want a drop of it on everything.
