Doing the dishes may seem like one of the easier, quicker tasks… as long as you have a dishwasher. It’s a little more painful if you don’t have one. But, doing the dishes after a super hot (as in super hot sauce dinner) is a special kind of hell if you don’t have a dishwasher.
It’s that whole chili pepper burn issue. By the time you’ve had a meal slathered in hot sauce and burned your face off, you’ve probably forgotten that you need to save your hands from that crazy capsaicin burn.
That’s if you made the meal in the first place. If you’ve left your partner or kids to do the cleaning up, they probably don’t even realize they need such protection. (It’s truly a kindness to give them such a warning,)
The stuff that burns your mouth off, and makes you sweat and dance around the room doesn’t just affect your lips and tongue; it will set your skin on fire too. It’s called capsaicin and, while it doesn’t physically burn, it’ll make you feel that way when it comes into contact with your skin.
As you can imagine, dipping your hands into a sink of soaking dishes can turn into an experience you won’t soon forget.
This isn’t a good reason to stop eating super hot sauce dinners; though it’s not a bad excuse to spoil yourself with a dishwasher. We’re simply saying that you should do the dishes while you’re still on your chili pepper high. Not only will it be more fun (because everything is while there are endorphins pumping through your body), but you won’t soon forget that you need to protect your hands.
Unless you’re into that sort of thing.
But we don’t suggest it.
Running low on your favorite super hot sauce?
While we don’t suggest burning your hands in capsaicin-laden dishwater, we’re big fans of the foods that dirty those dishes in the first place. Why not get some more and make your dinners special… even if it doesn’t mean more dishes.
