When it comes to food, you probably have your favorites
But there are certain types of food you may want to stay away from on a first date. While some people point to messy cuisine, certain types of food may simply be too hot to handle! The ranking comes from a poll of 2,000 adults in Britain. In all, people in the study ranked 20 different food items, with suggestions on avoiding them on a first date.
At the very top of the list
Was spicy curry. Sure, it makes sense for spicy food lovers to get their fix anytime they can, but at least 2,000 people say a first date is not the right time to indulge in extra spice. You can try out the heat scale anytime you want, but perhaps not on the first date with a person you’re still trying to impress. Other top foods they suggest you avoid on a first date include spaghetti, ribs, corn on the cob and oysters. As for some other traditionally spicy options you may want to cross off the list, the ranking included things like chicken wings, fajitas, burritos and tacos. Of course, all of these foods can potentially be pretty messy to eat, which is another good reason to avoid them.
So, what should you reach for instead?
Those surveyed suggest ordering something like chicken and rice instead of spaghetti. On the other hand, if you make it to, say, a third date, all bets are off. By now you may be ready to expand your food choices a bit. Nearly half of those involved in the survey said they’d enjoy someone cooking for them. You don’t even have to know how to cook at all. One in ten people involved in the survey admit they’ve purchased takeout food and served it to their date as a home-cooked meal.
