We know this is a little kooky
That you’ll probably have to post a guard by these Halloween party snacks so that kids don’t dive into them. (You really do need to stop them from eating them, even a few drops of our Mad Dog 357 Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce will send them reeling.)
All the same, these are fun to make – and even easier – and a great way to make the most of both the scary and the whimsy that comes with any Halloween.
You can make these in advance if you need, heating them again quickly just before serving, but they really are at their fiery best when you serve them just after they come out of the oven.
One last warning before you get started…
The Mad Dog pesto is wildly addictive. You’re going to want to eat it with everything. If you’re lucky to have any left after Halloween, spread it sandwiches or steaks; it’s good on both.
Ingredients
a few drops Mad Dog 357 Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce
1 container (7 oz.) Prepared pesto
1 roll Puff pastry, defrosted
¾ cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
18 slices Pepperoni
18 Olive slices
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
Add the Mad Dog 357 Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce to the pesto container and stir to combine. Set aside.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 18 circles with a round cookie cutter (or use a glass turned upside-down). Place these rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
Sprinkle the cheese onto these rounds, then place a pepperoni slice on each. Dab little of the Mad Dog pesto onto each pepperoni slice and top with an olive slice.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the pastry is golden. Serve with the remaining Mad Dog pesto for dipping.
