Have you seen the news? Sriracha bottles in Australia and New Zealand are exploding all over the place. Yes, as some poor soul opens a new bottle of hot sauce, it explodes in their eyes and around their kitchens.

The year has only just started, but you’re not alone if you’re feeling like you need a little me time. There’s a lot of advertising to suggest that the need for self-care is endemic. You might be tempted to think self-care is all about bubble baths, pedicures or glass of wine in front of the fire while you relax and forget about your troubles. But we think a different kind of fire will do much more for your health and emotional well-being.

Yes, there is a National Canned Goods Month. Presumably, February was chosen as it’s pushing the end of whatever fresh produce homesteaders can still use before it becomes compost for the next harvest.

February is National Potato Month in the US. And, before you shrug your shoulders and move along, think for a moment about how useful these veggies are. Useful? Yes, they’re exceptionally good at carrying cheese and bacon to your mouth. Ditto that for sour cream and salsa. Better still, potatoes are freaking fantastic with hot sauce.
